CATTLE
LOANS: (ADI DRAVIDAR & THADCO SCHEMES)
We have been implementing government cattle loans to Adi Dravidar
members of the primary Milk societies under Adi Dravidar Welfare Scheme
and THADCO schemesOf the State Government on subsidy basis from 1992 –
1993 onwards as detailed below.

ARTIFICIAL
INSEMINATION
To the quality of the
cattle we have introduced Artificial Insemination Scheme in this Union
since 22.9.88 Union Provide A.I Training to society employees by sending them to
various training Institutes and place them in the societies to do A.I.
Services tp the cattles of the members of the Societies.
Now
27 society VLW are doing Artificial Insemination work in their society
members Milk animals. The
equipments necessary for the Artificial Insemination activities and
semen Straws are being supplied by the Union.
CALF REARING SCHEME
Government
have accorded sanction for the implementation of Calf Rearing Scheme for
the Adi Dravidar Agricultural Labourers and Small
& Marginal farmers
by the Tamilnadu Cooperative Milk Producers Federation through the
District Milk Producers Union. In
this Scheme a Calf had been given 100%
su;bsidy as stated below from 4 to 32 months.

Accordingly
our Union had implemented this scheme in this District from the year
1995-96 onwards. In th year
1995-96 we have been sanctioned Rs.8,01,000/-for animals of the Adi
Dravidar members. For that we had
been selected 75 calves the members of Suchindram, Dherisanamcope, Aralvaimozhy,
Boothapandi, Chenbabagaramanputhoor, Azhaganvilai, Kannanputhoor,
Thirupathisaram, Marungoor,Theroor, Manikettipotal, Andarkulam milk
Producers Coop. Societies and feed & medicines were supplied to the
calf for the same.
In the year 1996-97 also we have been allotted Rs.8,01,000/-for
Calf Rearing Scheme And we had selected 75 calves from the members of
Marungoor, Aralvaimozhi, Thalakudy, Meenamangalam, Kannanputhoor,
Chenbagaramanputhoor,Colachel, Manikettipottal, Karuparai,
Dherisanamcope, Suchindram Milk Producers Coop. Societies and supplied cattle
feed and medicine to calves. In
this scheme 150 members were benefited so far.
I.R.D.P Scheme
We
had been allotted 165 cans at the value of Rs.2,12,967-00 on subsidy
under I.R.D.P Scheme.
GOVERNMENT LOANS
Under
Western Ghat Scheme the State Government issued Rs.5.80 lakhs on 16.8.91
of Which 2.9 lakhs share capital and 2.9 lakhs as loan with 12.5%
interest. We have remitted
the Entire loan amount of Rs.2.9 lakhs to the Government along with
interest and also remitted back 1.94 lakhs from the share capital and we
have to remit Rs.0.96 lakhs from share amount.
INTEGRATED DAIRY
DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
As
the Kalkulam & Vilavancode Taluk of this District are hilly &
backward areas, Central Government sanctioned Rs.96,45,652-00 as 100%
subsidy for their development Under Integrated Dairy Development
Programme during the year 1996-97 & 1997-98.
By utilising this fund we have organised 40 women MPCS and
supplied Books & Forms, Estt. Grant, Furnitures, AI containers,
Trevis, Milk Testors, Chemicals, Milk Can, Lab Equipments, Seeds to
these Societies. We have
given training to the farmers,village level Workers & staff of these
newly formed societies. Also
this subsidy amount was utilised for the purchase of vehicles, Boiler,
Ice cream units, Khovapan, Milk Depots,Pasteuriser, Tubs, Freezer,
Computer, Xerox Machine and construction of cattle feed godown and Cold
Storage.
ETP PLANT
For
purifying the water being coming out from the dairy with chemicals and
to avoid The pollution in the surrounding of the union, we have
installed one ETP Plant at the Value of Rs.13.5
lakhs with the financial assistance of Rs.12.5 lakhs from the state
Government.
