MILK PROCUREMENT

Area of operation of Milk procurement covers all the Four Taluks namely asteeswaram,Thovalai, Kalkulam Vilavancode of this District.  At present in this District there are 121 societies of which 78 are functioning & remaining 43 are dormant.  But only 49 societies are supplying Milk now to the Union.

We are collecting Milk from these societies in 6 routes.  The Daily average Milk Procurement From societies is about 5500 lits.  To cater the needs of the public we need an average of 19000 lits. Of milk per day and hence we are lifting about an average of 10000 lits. Per day  from neighboring Dairy viz. Tirunelveli District Cooperative Milk Producers Union.

Milk Purchased from the Primary Societies are being paid as per the rates fixed by the Government and also as per the Direction of our Central Office, the Tamilnadu Cooperative Milk producers Federation , Chennai.  At present it is being paid at the rate of Rs.73.08 per  of total solid(Rs.9.50 paid per litre with 4.5% Fat and 8.5% SNF ) of Milk Comprising Of Fat and Solid  Non Fat.  Regarding milk value payment,  we are paying the milk value Due to the societies by every 15 days.
