The Marketing activities are being covered in both Vellore and Thiruvannamalai districts. The union is supplying two types of MILK  namely Toned and Skimmed milk according to the requirement of the Agents. The union has appointed 262 milk selling agencies to effect the supply both at the selling outlet as well as the door steps of the consumers. The agents appointed by the union has to remit the milk cost as pre-payment for the next day's supply. The milk supply is effected through 11 distribution routes from three different head quarters. The milk pouches are packed at Vellore, Ambur and Thiruvannamalai to preserve the quality and quantity so as to effect the, supply punctually. In order to motivate and re-dress the grievances of the, Agents by giving early attention, it has been proposed to open new branch offices in major towns of Vellore and Thiruvanamalai districts to monitor the liquid milk sales effectively.

To increase the sale of liquid milk the Union has programmed to appoint more number of agents in all the town depending on the possibility. Previously the Union was marketing only milk. To improve the profit of the Union, now the milk is converted into value added products like Khoa and Ghee.  In order to promote the sales of the by- products the union has appointed 21 FRO's in different towns apart from the existing 7 parlours in the District head quarters run by the union. The products are being packed in smaller denominations like 200 gins, 50Ogms and 1 kg in attractive packing. In addition to the union by- products, the Federation products like butter, Skimmed milk powder, Flavoured milk and mango juice in tetra packs (Maavin) are marketed through the out-lets of the union as well as through the Franchise Retail Outlets. The price structure given by the Federation is being  followed for selling products as well as the percentage of commission given to the agents on various products.

SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENTS

Since the sale of product is the only way to improve the profit of the union, a High-way Ice cream parlour along with Children's park to attract more consumers was opened on 11.3.2001. It is situated at Vellore - Chennai high ways adjoining to the Vellore Dairy. To cater the needs of the consumers 24 hours service is rendered in the ice cream parlour. The present sales is around Rs. 12000/- per day and attained a maximum sales of Rs. 16000/- in a day. 20 varieties of ice cream are being made at the Vellore dairy itself with the available infra-structure. Further, it has been proposed to open two more ice-cream  parlours at Vellore town and Ambur town.

FUTURE PLAN

1.    Additional Fat handling equipments:

  In order to avoid sending Whole milk to other Feeder Balancing dairies for conversion of by-products, it has been planned to purchase butter churner, ghee ripening tank, ghee boiler and ghee settling tank and to erect them at Vellore Dairy for the preparation of Ghee at Vellore Dairy itself.  

2.    Vemul Ice-cream: 

By procuring additional Plant and Machineries for the preparation of ice-cream it has been planned to market ice-cream varieties through the FROs' in both Vellore, and Thiruvanamalai districts in a larger scale. The ice-cream manufactured at Vellore, is branded m "VEMUL" and the branded image, among the Consumers of Vellore town is being built.

3.    Converting CC into Dairy:

There is a proposal to convert Thiruvanamalai CC into dairy by erecting 4000 lits per hour pasteurization plant within a month's time. After the conversion of dairy, the pasteurized milk prepared will be utilized for local sales within the district.

 4.    Other Promotional Activities of marketing:

Two autos are to be purchased for selling milk and milk products at the Vantage points regularly.
